The Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) brings together a diverse community of educators, clinicians, researchers, technologists, and leaders who share a commitment to advancing simulated practice across health and care.

Simulation is increasingly recognised as a powerful approach for improving learning, strengthening workforce capability, and supporting safer systems of care. Yet the field remains diverse and often fragmented across sectors and professions. ASPiH plays a vital role in bringing coherence, shared standards, and collective leadership to this growing area of practice.

Our strategic priorities focus on strengthening ASPiH as a trusted authority for simulation, connecting and energising the community, and ensuring simulation has a clear voice within national health and education priorities.

Through collaboration, standards, and shared expertise, ASPiH works to support a connected simulation ecosystem where learning, improvement, and innovation can flourish across the health and care system.

Strategic Priorities

  1. Establish ASPiH as the recognised authority for simulation

  2. Be the recognised expert authority for healthcare simulation: a trusted reference point for direction, guidance, standards, and alignment across the field. Our authority rests on advancing knowledge, shared expertise, and collaboration — not regulation.

1
  1. Connect and align the simulation ecosystem

  2. Unite the simulation ecosystem across professions, sectors, and disciplines to reduce fragmentation and strengthen collaboration. By strengthening collaboration and shared values and standards, ASPiH will support a coherent, aligned approach to simulated practice.

2

Influence system-level priorities

Position simulation as a core approach for addressing national health and care priorities. Through active engagement with system leaders, policymakers, and partners, ASPiH will ensure simulation contributes meaningfully to workforce development, patient safety, and system improvement.

3

Energise and empower the simulation community

Re-energise and empower the simulation community by creating opportunities for connection, leadership, and shared innovation. Through engagement, collaboration, and recognition, ASPiH will support a confident, connected, and impactful community.
