The ASPiH portal is an exclusive membership benefit is the UK’s largest repository of educational content for those with an interest in Simulation.

All members can log on as a learner and access;

Over 170 videos and 77 hours of simulation content which is growing everyday,
New content will be added regularly, including all future ASPiH conference sessions, Journal Clubs, and Webinars,
CPD certificates issued for all viewed content.

All members are also have the ability to be educators on the platform, and share their own content.

Introducing the ASPiH Portal Pilots

We are delighted to introduce you to the ASPiH Portal Pilots.

The Portal Pilots will upload videos to the Portal every month and will participate in webinars and social media posts to showcase the advantages of the Portal. The Portal Pilots will be responsible for:

Driving awareness of the ASPiH Portal, to members and non-members.
Uploading content to the ASPiH Portal on a monthly basis. This content will be on a specific theme (transformative sim, impact sim, the standards etc) and will showcase the range of content on the Portal.
Supporting members and institutional members to develop and upload high quality educational videos to the ASPiH Portal.
Be visible on social media showcasing the ASPiH Portal.
Run webinars to showcase the ASPiH Portal to new audiences.
Be active at ASPiH 2025 conference in supporting delegates to record and upload content to the ASPiH Portal.

Cathal Breen

Biography

Professor Cathal Breen is a Clinical Scientist and senior academic at Edinburgh Napier University, where he leads simulation-based education and research. His work focuses on integrating technology-enhanced learning tools to improve clinical decision-making and patient safety.
He is actively involved with SESAM and ASPiH, contributing to international simulation education through research, presentations, and collaborative projects. His expertise spans scenario design, interprofessional learning, and the evaluation of simulation’s impact on clinical competence.
Professor Breen also serves as an editor for Clinical Simulation in Nursing, supporting the global dissemination of evidence-based simulation practices. His leadership continues to shape the future of healthcare education through innovation and collaboration.

Danils Vanags

Biography

Danils Vanags is an AI Communication Designer and Simulation Expert with a dual background in law and immersive education. Currently serving as an AI Communication and Instructional Designer at Logosnet and a Simulation Developer for the Harvard-affiliated CLASP project, Danils crafts high-impact learning tools combining behavioural design, compliance training, and emotional intelligence. He has co-designed over 15 multilingual avatars for high-stakes simulation environments, using GPT-based language models to build psychologically safe and culturally grounded dialogue systems. His work supports global initiatives in education and healthcare by leveraging AI to enhance empathy, decision-making, and professional development.

Jamie Vetvick

Biography

Jamie Vetvick is a Registered Nurse and Simulation Consultant based in the United States, serving as part of the HealthPartners Clinical Simulation team. She leads external strategy and community engagement, focusing on scalable simulation programs that support professional development and drive equity in healthcare outcomes. With a background in clinical education and healthcare leadership, Jamie is passionate about democratizing access to high-quality training and fostering global collaboration to advance patient care and safety.

Kirsten Howson

Biography

Kirsten Howson's background is as a psychiatry doctor working in the UK, within the NHS. She has experience in quality assurance, design and delivery of multi professional simulation training, focussing on mental health topics, in addition to non-clinical skills including allyship, teamwork, communication and leadership and particularly enjoys incorporating a focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion into courses. Kirsten is experienced in working with simulated patients and is passionate about enhancing the psychological safety of both participants and actors within simulation training.

Lekha Kandasamy

Biography

Lekha Kandasamy is a dentist and MSc Interprofessional Healthcare Simulation postgraduate with a strong foundation in clinical practice and simulation based education. Currently working as a Curriculum and Student Collaboration Consultant at University of Greenwich. she integrates her dental background with her expertise in simulation to design impactful learning experiences through actively seeking student perspectives for their learning experiences. Alongside her masters, Lekha volunteered at the Greenwich Learning and Simulation Centre, gaining hands-on experience in scenario development, equipment management, and interprofessional training.

She joined the Aspih Portal Pilot Initiative to contribute her skills in shaping accessible, high-quality resources, collaborate with educators and practitioners across disciplines, network and learn with them to support the growth of simulation-based education to improve patient care and learner engagement.

Ryan Aga

Biography

Ryan Aga is the System Director of Clinical Simulation at HealthPartners, an innovative healthcare leader with over a decade of experience in building high-performing teams and driving safety, quality, and patient experience. He excels in clinical simulation services, leveraging his expertise to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals. With strong leadership and relationship-building skills, Ryan connects with thousands globally, featuring over 14,000 LinkedIn followers. Passionate about collaboration and continuous improvement, he is dedicated to transforming healthcare and making a positive impact on patient care.

Sam McNab

Biography

Sam McNab began his career as an Army Combat Medical Technician before qualifying as a paramedic and later transitioning into education. His passion for high-fidelity simulation led him to become a Lecturer in Simulation & Immersive Technologies at the University of West London, where he leads/teaches modules across nursing and paramedic programmes. He has contributed to simulation-focused military training, including CBRN, BATLS, and EMSB courses. His professional interests centre on the use of immersive technologies to enhance clinical education, alongside digital innovation and generative AI.
