Key purpose:
To improve engagement, networking and professional development of Skills and Simulation Technicians across the UK and beyond.

Person specification:
A person who is currently in a technical role within a Skills and Simulation Centre in either an NHS Trust or University in the United Kingdom and has offered to represent their region/country i.e. their LETB (Local Education Training Board) or Scotland, Wales, Northern or Southern Ireland. Some regions may have more than one person in this role and will work collaboratively.

Tasks and activities: 
Act as an ‘ambassador’ in promoting the role of the skills and simulation technician.  To confirm and record all existing contacts and make new connections with technicians in own region – all to be recorded on the UK/Europe data MAP.  To create a network/community that supports technicians in their role and provides opportunities for sharing of knowledge, skills and resources.  To communicate effectively with other technicians in own region by a variety of methods - electronically, social media, blogs, face-to-face or at regional and national events.  To raise awareness of regional events/training opportunities for skills and simulation technicians with a vision of each region or geography to host supported training events on a rotational basis. To participate in or disseminate national pieces of work relevant to the role, alongside supporting the wider aims of the ASPiH community through the ASPiH Technicians and Learning Technologists SIG (Special Interest Group)

Measurement of impact:
Frequent communication with main point of contact to provide regular feedback of activity, provide a formal report on impact either in person or electronically at any of the Technician related events throughout the year.

Creation and revision dates: The role will be reviewed at the end of 2017, however the role descriptor content may be revised at any stage.It is difficult to quantify time/hours needed to achieve the role, but it is important that line managers are aware and considerate of the time required to achieve the tasks and activities.
